M. Pokora is a French singer who has built up his career to the point of selling millions of copies of his work. He then moved on to become a host on The Voice Kids France in 2016. Matthieu Tota, or M. Pokora/ Matt Pokora was born in 1985 in Strasbourg, France. He grew up with both of his parents until they divorced when he was 13. As a child, Tota wanted to become a professional soccer player, but later changed his mind. When asked about how he got his name, he cited his grandmother when he found out that the word 'pokora' meant humility. He decided to go with Matt Pokora, then later M. Pokora from there.
He was first introduced to the public through his performance in the French reality talent show, Popstars. He became a member of the band, Linkup, with other winners from the show. Their first single, "Mon Étoile," was a success almost instantaneously, topping the French charts. Though the band later broke up due to poor record sales, Tota started his own career and released his own song called, "Showbiz (The Battle)." This debuted at number 10 on the French music charts.
