Kings of Leon, originating from Nashville, Tennessee, was established in 1999 and comprises the Followill family members: brothers Caleb, Nathan, and Jared, along with their cousin Matthew. Initially, their music was a mix of Southern and garage rock with a hint of blues, but over time, it transitioned into more alternative and diverse rock sounds.
 
The band found early acclaim in the UK, securing nine Top 40 singles and two BRIT Awards in 2008, with their first three albums making significant impacts on the UK Albums Chart, including a number one spot for Because of the Times.
 
Their international breakthrough came with the 2008 release, Only by the Night, marking their entry into the US music scene with top-charting singles like "Sex on Fire" and "Use Somebody" and achieving platinum status in the US and Australia. Following albums, including Come Around Sundown and Mechanical Bull, continued their success. Walls, their seventh album, was released in October 2016, and their latest, When You See Yourself, came out in March 2021. The band has been recognized with four Grammy Awards from twelve nominations, notably winning Record of the Year for "Use Somebody."
