Bullet for My Valentine, often known as BFMV, is a Welsh heavy metal group that emerged from Bridgend in 1998. The lineup includes Matthew Tuck (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Michael Paget (lead guitar, backing vocals), Jason Bowld (drums), and Jamie Mathias (bass guitar, backing vocals), with past members such as Michael Thomas, Jason James, and Nick Crandle mainly handling bass duties. Initially named Jeff Killed John, the band initially covered tracks by Metallica and Nirvana and recorded six unreleased songs, some of which were later transformed into Bullet for My Valentine tracks. The shift from Jeff Killed John's style prompted a name change, and by 2002, they had clinched a five-album contract with Sony BMG, citing influences from heavy metal stalwarts like Metallica, Iron Maiden, and Slayer, and becoming key figures in Cardiff's music scene.
 
Their first album, The Poison, was launched in the UK on October 3, 2005, and in the US on February 14, 2006, aligning with Valentine's Day, reflecting the band's name. It made its US debut on the Billboard 200 and achieved gold certification. Their subsequent albums, including Scream Aim Fire and Fever, have seen significant success, with placements on the Billboard charts and extensive touring, including with Rob Zombie and appearances at major festivals.
 
Bullet for My Valentine continued their success with albums such as Temper Temper, Venom, and Gravity, culminating in the release of their self-titled seventh studio album on November 5, 2021. The band has sold over one million albums in the United States and more than three million worldwide, earning a distinguished place in the British music scene with multiple Kerrang! Awards for Best British Band.
