Oasis, an iconic English rock band, was formed in Manchester in 1991. The original lineup featured Liam Gallagher (lead vocals), Paul Arthurs (guitar), Paul McGuigan (bass), and Tony McCarroll (drums). Shortly after, Liam’s older brother, Noel Gallagher, joined the group as lead guitarist and vocalist, becoming the band's primary songwriter and de facto leader. Oasis quickly became one of the most influential and globally successful bands of the Britpop era.

In 1993, Oasis signed with Creation Records and released their groundbreaking debut album, *Definitely Maybe* (1994). The album soared to the top of the UK Albums Chart and set a record as the fastest-selling debut album in British history. The following year, they released *(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?* (1995), featuring new drummer Alan White. This album, released amidst a highly publicized rivalry with Blur, spent ten weeks at number one in the UK and became one of the best-selling albums of all time, both in the UK and internationally. The Gallagher brothers' public disputes and rock 'n' roll lifestyles frequently made headlines throughout the 1990s. In 1996, Oasis performed two historic nights at Knebworth to a combined audience of 250,000, marking the largest outdoor concerts in UK history at that time. Their third album, *Be Here Now* (1997), further solidified their success, becoming the fastest-selling album in UK chart history.

By 1999, founding members Arthurs and McGuigan had departed during the recording of *Standing on the Shoulder of Giants* (2000). They were replaced by Gem Archer (guitar) and Andy Bell (bass). Alan White left the band in 2004, with Zak Starkey and later Chris Sharrock stepping in as drummers. Oasis released three more albums in the 2000s: *Heathen Chemistry* (2002), *Don’t Believe the Truth* (2005), and *Dig Out Your Soul* (2008). However, the band disbanded abruptly in 2009 following Noel Gallagher's departure. The remaining members continued as Beady Eye until their disbandment in 2014. Both Liam and Noel Gallagher have since enjoyed successful solo careers. On August 27, 2024, Oasis announced their reunion for a series of performances in the UK and Ireland during their *Live '25 Tour* in summer 2025.

As of 2024, Oasis has sold over 75 million records worldwide, establishing themselves as one of the best-selling music artists of all time. They have dominated the UK Singles Chart and UK Albums Chart with eight UK number-one singles and eight UK number-one albums. In the US, they achieved three Platinum albums. The band has been honored with 17 NME Awards, nine Q Awards, four MTV Europe Music Awards, and six Brit Awards, including accolades for Outstanding Contribution to Music and "Best Album of the Last 30 Years" for *(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?*. Additionally, they received two Grammy Award nominations.
