Roberto Carlos Braga was born in 1941 in Cachoeiro do Itapemirim, Espírito Santo, Brazil. He loved music as a child and learned to play the guitar and sing. He got his first taste of fame when he was 9-years old, and he competed with a performance for a children’s radio show. He won first place and recalls receiving candles as the grand prize. His passion for music continued to grow, and he became a big part of the musical movement of the 1950s rock revolution called Young Guard. Through his work with the movement, he was able to host the Young Guard program and TV Records. Through this platform, he further promoted his music and rose to fame shortly after.
