Anyone who loves heavy metal music from Sweden has heard of the band Ghost. Even people who don't listen to rock or metal music exclusively recognize the band for their explosive and almost eccentric stage performances. The band uses heavy makeup, metallic masks with suits, and tuxedos to completely hide their identities on stage. A big part of their success lies in their performances on stage, which is one of the reasons that guests and fans enjoy their shows.
Fans of Ghost can see them perform live on stage in Lyon, France on February 3rd. Following that show, they're going to be in Paris, Stuttgart, Hannover, Oslo, Sydney, Brisbane, Columbus, Brussels, and Manchester. Their final date for 2019 is on July 13th in Trondheim, Norway.
Ghost Background
Ghost was formed in 2006 by the leader of the band, Tobias Forge. Forge originally wasn't interested in being the lead singer, and he initially offered the job to other members of the band. Everyone wanted to focus on their own instruments, so he was left with singing for the group. The band was formed with a focus on anonymity, and everyone who's a current member of the group is known as one of the Nameless Ghouls. The main leader is characterized as Papa Nihil, who's the third "reincarnated" version of himself.
Together, the group released several great hits, their first big break being their album, Opus Eponymous. This album was extremely popular and reached number 50 on Sverigetopplistan. It later went on to be nominated for the 2011 Grammis Award, the equivalent of a Grammy in Sweden, for the "Best Hard Rock Album."
Ghost’s Biggest Hits
Despite the mystery of the band, or perhaps because of it, they're one of the forerunners in the heavy metal scene in Sweden. Ghost has had several successes through their theatrics, but more importantly, through their haunting music. Some of their most successful songs are "Year Zero", "Cirice" and "Square Hammer".
